The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently released the 2025 U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER), which is a comprehensive study that is designed to track and understand employment trends across the energy sector. This year’s report reflects survey responses from 42,800 business nationwide and is intended to provide data on 2024 employment.
Note that this report includes all types of energy (not only clean energy). Some green jobs & climate-related workforce highlights from the report include that there are 2,381,700 workers in energy efficiency, 370,600 people employed in solar electric power generation, and 133,000 in wind electric power generation.

The 2025 report indicated that the energy sector employed 8.5 million workers in 2024, accounting for 5.4% of all jobs in the U.S.
Based on a custom analysis conducted by Green Jobs Network, approximately 38-40% of these jobs (approximately 3.2 – 3.4 million) are green & climate-related, such as in clean energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and batteries.
