Co-founded by Gary White and Matt Damon in 2009, Water.org represents the coming together of two organizations – WaterPartners International and H2O Africa, with combined history spanning 25 years. Together, these founding organizations have impacted more than 1.1 million lives in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.

Water.org is a global nonprofit working to ensure safe water and basic sanitation for everyone in the world. The organization goes beyond traditional approaches to clean water and sanitation, focusing on addressing the underlying causes of this crisis and innovating to deliver sustainable change.

Momentum has built in support of Water.org. In 2008, the organization was invited to attend the Clinton Global Initiative and in 2009 was featured at CGI’s opening plenary session, where Matt and Gary announced the formation of Water.org. That same year, Gary received the Skoll Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and in 2011, Time Magazine named Gary and Matt two of the 100 Most Influential People in the World for their work in delivering accessible, safe water and sanitation. In the past 12 months, Water.org secured $12 million in new grant commitments to scale WaterCredit in Asia and Africa.

The Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) is critical to the success of Water.org. This individual must demonstrate the ability to operate in a progressive, forward-thinking manner with an eye toward continual innovation. The COO’s primary deliverables include: building and leading teams, ensuring operational and program execution, attaining strategic and financial results, establishing processes, systems, and reporting mechanisms, and driving effective and efficient implementation – all of which will enable innovation and growth.
