Here’s What It Is
Degrees: Real talk about planet-saving careers is your #1 podcast for access to green job mentors, insight into new and growing green careers, advice to calm your climate anxiety, and an action plan to make a meaningful impact for the planet.
In each episode, host Yesh Pavlik Slenk gets you up close with career changers, CEOs, innovators, sustainability experts — even former White House staffers — about their paths to solving the world’s biggest environmental problems. They share their inspiring journeys to planet saving jobs and how they achieve impact, so others (like you) can turn your climate awareness into action.
Yesh mentors hundreds of green job seekers through Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate Corps fellowship program, which embeds graduate students into companies, cities and nonprofits to help advance clean energy projects and climate goals. On Degrees, she brings her expertise as a sustainability careers expert to season four’s new segment #AskYesh, where she solves listener dilemmas around skill and credential building and finding that perfect green job! Here’s Why You Want to Listen
Degrees tracks the new changes in green careers happening now. A recent report from LinkedIn identified over 600 green skills, and over 400 different green job titles that are working on greening the economy. Most jobs requiring green skills are not traditional green jobs. And did you know that the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act will create nine million green jobs in the next ten years? That’s a lot of opportunity – and impact! Not only that, but we spend a third of our lives at work. That’s a lot of time. So, why not use that time to fight climate change and get paid to do it?
Degrees is a free (and entertaining!) resource that you can use to learn about green opportunities and get involved. It will offer tangible, real-time advice for people – like you – looking to get a green job (or looking to improve in the one you are already in). The latest season, “Jobs of the Future,” is all about how we can achieve the most impact during our lifetime. The more people who listen and share this podcast, the more these jobs are democratized and the closer we get to net zero and save the planet.
