Applications Being Accepted for 2027 Cohort of $300K+ Activate Fellowship

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2027 cohort of the Activate Fellowship, a two-year program that supports scientists and engineers working to commercialize early-stage hard-tech innovations.

Fellows receive more than $300,000 in funding and support over two years, along with entrepreneurial training, mentorship, technical resources, and access to a network of scientists, engineers, investors, and commercial partners. The 2027 fellowship begins June 1, 2027.

The Activate Fellowship encompasses a broad range of science and engineering fields, including energy, advanced materials, manufacturing, agriculture, and the life sciences.

This includes technologies with particular relevance to climate and environmental challenges, such as clean energy, industrial decarbonization, sustainable materials, water, agriculture, and climate resilience. An example is Fervo Energy, which develops next-generation geothermal energy technology. Co-founders Tim Latimer and Jack Norbeck were members of Activate’s 2018 cohort.

Activate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015. Since its launch, the organization has supported more than 350 fellows who have started more than 280 hard-tech companies and raised $6.5 billion in additional funding.

Applications for the 2027 U.S. cohort are due October 30, 2026 at 12 p.m. Pacific Time. You can learn more about the eligibility criteria and apply here.

In addition, for those interested in working at companies launched by Activate fellows, Activate maintains a job board featuring hundreds of opportunities at fellow companies.

This fellowship has been added to the Green Jobs Network fellowship website climatefellowships.com. Thanks and good luck to those who apply!
