Formed in 1970 and headquartered in downtown New York City, the Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC) is a privately funded citizens 501(c)3 organization in the Office of the Mayor of New York City. With a 2007 budget of $5 million, CENYC promotes environmental awareness and develops solutions to environmental problems. CENYC has 4 primary programs: 1) Environmental Education; 2) Open Space Greening; 3) Office of Recycling Outreach and Education; and 4) Greenmarket, which is comprised of 46 markets in the 5 boroughs of New York City.

Description:
Reporting to and partnering with the Executive Director (ED) and the Assistant Executive Director (AED), the Controller will play a critical role in the overall management of the accounting department including the accurate and timely entry of all financial data; prompt and accurate financial reporting to management; preparation of government, foundation, or other reports; ensuring adequate review of all expenditures; managing cash flow; and advising the ED and AED.

In addition to core accounting and finance responsibilities, the Controller will manage day-to-day operations as well, including administrative and general support functions.
